Tanzania
For travelers looking for an amazing safari, beach or trekking destination, it’s hard to beat Tanzania. Besides its incredible concentration of wildlife, awesome landscapes, exotic beaches and rich culture, Tanzania is the only country in Africa with seven World Heritage Sites. With so many national parks and game reserves, there is a large variety to choose from. Tanzania’s most famous park, Serengeti National Park, is one of the world’s most stunning wildlife reserves due to the abundance and variety of wildlife and the great annual migration of millions of wildebeest. The Northern Circuit also includes the beautiful Ngorongoro Crater, the impressive Kilimanjaro and smaller parks like elephant haven Tarangire and the scenic Lake Manyara. If you prefer a more off the beaten track adventure, South Tanzania is the place to go. Explore untouched places like Ruaha, which hosts 10 percent of the world’s lion population, or Selous, home to the largest population of wild dogs.
Uganda
Situated at the heart of the African continent, this lush green country, is called ‘the pearl of Africa” due to its beauty, color and diversity of wildlife. Uganda’s main draw is the gorilla and chimp tracking. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to about 350 mountain gorillas, which is half of the world’s population. Observing mountain gorillas in their natural habitat is one of the safari highlights for many travelers. Another popular national park in Uganda is Queen Elizabeth; the place to go for chimpanzee trekking. Besides primates and a huge variety of other wildlife, Uganda is also known for its breathtaking scenery. You can enjoy Uganda’s scenery and wildlife not only on game drives but also during a hike, balloon flight or spectacular boat safari. Don’t miss out on a boat trip on the Kazinga Channel or the mighty Nile River.
