Mount Kilimanjaro

Africa’s highest mountain looms impressively above the African plains in Tanzania, to an elevation of 5,895 metres (19,336 feet). Every year more than 20,000 adventurers try to reach the snow-capped summit of this iconic mountain. Although Kilimanjaro is known as one of the most attainable high summits in the world, it’s a challenging journey through five climate zones. It’s like walking from the tropics to the North Pole in just a week time. Experience the ultimate sense of achievement when you reach the roof of Africa!

Natural wonder

Mount Kilimanjaro is located in Kilimanjaro National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its exceptional natural beauty. That’s no wonder if you imagine a snow covered mountain on the equator, surrounded by a green forest and dry savannah. Due to its incredible height and location it has five climate zones, each with its own flora and fauna. Most of the animals life in the forest on the lower slopes such as the black and white colobus monkeys.

Three peaks

Kilimanjaro is a massive dormant volcanic mountain with three peaks: Kibo, Mawenzi and Shira. While only three degrees south of the Equator, the peaks of both Kibo and Mawenzi have permanent snow on their caps. At Uhuru Peak (5895m), located on Kibo’s crater rim, you reach the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro. It’s a once in a life time experience to stand on the ‘roof’ of Africa, overlooking the savannah stretched in front of you.
